I’m so glad that you said that, I may not have autism, but my 3 year old daughter Reagan does and I know I’ll never see the world like she does. And I have never thought that she needed to be cured, she just is the way she is, and she is a beautiful human being inside and out. Depends. It’s not as if autism is as simple as an on/off thing. I agree that people who possess one of the milder forms of autism, like Asperger’s, definitely don’t need to be ‘cured’ at all.
But then there are other autistic people who utterly lack basic social skills and learning capabilities. Some so severe that they need near-constant care and supervision. That seems to be the type of person people think of when they hear ‘autism,’ and the type they think needs to be ‘cured.’

Well I myself have autism, and I have never saw the world in that way (ironically my vision is better than 20/20). I think you can do all the research you want, but you’ll never be able to come close to understanding what it is like to have autism.
If anyone did, there would likely be less people saying how it needs to be “cured”. That’s like saying I also should be “cured” of my blue eyes, when in reality there is nothing wrong with such.

not neccesserly, my mom works with autistic children and has found that a lot of the recent diagnosed in fact don’t have autism and have different conditions. But since autism allows the child more help from the goverment than other similar conditions a lot of kids are diagonosed as autism when they don’t have it. Its also more known than other conditions, so a lot of the increase involves children being misdignosed.

I can empathise with the surroundings issue. I have sever Tourettes and I get so hot and I can’t stand to be touched on one side and not the other. I have 2 poems about my Tourettes on youtube one deals with tics named Poetry of Touretted and the other deals with tics and overstimulted feeling of touch and it is named Tourettes Thunder. I hope we can raise awareness about all of these neurlogical and neurobiological Syndroms and Disorders.

People with autism shouldn’t be treated with drugs. There is nothing wrong with them.
They are just different, it’s their surroundings that are WRONG. So their surroundings should be treated, not them.

There could be a genetic link in the rising rates of autism… For instance, mutations in the MECP2, PTEN, SHANK3, and NLGN4X genes are found in many cases of autism. (There are heritable) And these abnormalities in these genes have a 100% concordance rate in inidentical tiwns (who share the same genetic make up). Is it possible that these genetic abnormalities increase susceptibility to the effects of vaccines? This could explain early onset autism but not autism that is present from birth.

I have an autistic son who was diagnosed on the autistic spectrum just before his 3rd birthday, i don’t think there’s as much of an ‘epidemic’ as the hype would have people believe its just in recent years the diagnostic procedures have improved due to more understanding of the condition. There are so many people out there who are on the autistic spectrum who have never been diagnosed and were written off throughout their childhood years as ‘difficult children’

actually studies are revealing that vaccines are not actually responsible for any autism but parents and doctors were believing so because autism is most commonly diagnosed at the age where kids are getting their large round of baby/toddler vaccines so the first signs of autism were showing up at the same time as the kids are getting their shots. Naturally people began to ume that vaccines were therefore causing the autism but in reality its just a bad coincidence.

Autism is a spectrum disorder and I believe it is caused by a spectrum of causes. Both of my best friends from High School and I have autistic children. One was clearly affected at birth, mine initiated right after 18 month vacinations and one slightly later and suffers severe anxiety. We believe my child’s was caused by vaccinations (he is high functioning.) My friends who showed at birth was probably genetic (severe) and my friend with the older boy was probably environmental.

It is highly unlikely, given the rapid increase in numbers of children affected by autism (1 in 150 is the figure, and growing) that the problem is merely genetic. In fact, it’s a medical impossibility for the human gene pool, by itself, to have been corrupted so thoroughly, to have created this vast epidemic. Environmental toxins, genetic factors and yes, probably some elements of certain vaccines are all more than likely responsible.

I have read somewhere online that there might be a connection with diabetes and autism??
