This question is for people who have family members, or more specifically children, who have autism. My first child was diagnosed at 2 and I recently had another child (10 days old). I want to get more insight from parents about how they feel about vaccines in regards to autism and whether or not we should put the vaccines shots on hold for younger siblings until they get older.

Vaccines have NOTHING to do with autism. That is a myth.

Well, my understanding is that the vaccine schedule out now hurts children that are not just the autistic ones.

Since I am an autistic but not a parent I would personally want to encourage you to use moderation. i know that I do not react well to non-food substances in my body and have had a negative reaction to morphine. However, each case is different and you may just have to use trial and error.

That being said, I would also suggest only one or two at a time, not the occasional five or six in the schedule.

As a parent who worked her butt off to recover her children, and they are still dependent upon diets and such to keep symptoms away, I now say no to vaccines. If I were to have another, I would use homeopathy for the diptheria and tetanus pathogens in place of vaccines, and I am not concerned about the other vaccine diseases. I would like to see the vaccine program redone. I think it could work if it were redone. Each person needs to do their own research and decide what is best for them and their children. Simply reading the vaccine ingredients is shocking. I recently heard they took the vaccine ingredients off the CDC website. I am sure they are accessible somewhere. Please look for them and learn about the ingredients, such as that some are grown in aborted fetuses. And also pay attention to the fact that some are not suppose to be given to those with allergies, sinus infections, immune suppression, etc. And also pay attention to the fact that they are only good for 5 to 10 years of immunity. This would mean that a 1-year old would only have immunity for that vaccinated disease til age 6 or 11. Unbelievable! I wish they gave me a leaflet that said that instead of one that says "reactions are rare and usually just a mild fever".

The causes of autism are both genetic and environmental. Autism has to have an environmental component, because there is no such thing as a genetic epidemic. Many people, including myself, believe vaccines are a strong environmental component to autism. Autism also must have a genetic component, or else almost all kids would have autism, not "just" 1 in 110 kids.

Since you already have a child with autism, your second child has a higher than average risk of developing autism, due to genetics. That should be very concerning to you, since the average is already quite high, at 1 in 110 kids. So in order to lower your second child’s risk of autism, you must do things differently than most parents do. Avoiding vaccines is a very logical approach. If you look at Homefirst, a very large medical practice in Chicago, you’ll see that they don’t vaccinate their patients, and their patients don’t have autism. With 35,000 former and current patients, they should have about 300 former and current patients with autism. But they have zero cases of autism in children who have never been vaccinated. Pretty powerful evidence, I’d say.

Heidi, the vaccine ingredients are listed in the package inserts, which can be found here. http://www.fda.gov/BiologicsBl.....093833.htm Aborted human fetus ingredients are in the MMR, chickenpox, Pentacel, and hepatitis A vaccines. Look for WI-38, MRC-5, and RA 27/3 listed in the package inserts under the heading, "Description."

    Frankly, I can’t believe you’re considering it. Please don’t!

Vaccines cause autism. Period. And I disagree with another poster who says that there is a "genetic" component to autism (aka mercury poisoning) since there are NO medically documented cases of autism until the 1930s when our country began vaccinating children with heavy metals.

    http://www.vaccinationnews.com.....mptoms.htm

ANYONE can get "autism". Boys get it more because they have weaker immune systems (ask any pediatric nurse), produce less glutathoine (our body’s most important detoxifier), and have testosterone, which binds to the heavy metals present in ALL vaccines. I’ve read HUNDREDS of accounts of kids slipping into autism. It’s the same story with minor variations. Kid was a preemie, kid got sick (ear infection, RSV, etc.) kid goes on antibiotics (stronger than they’ve ever been) kid has a weak immune system because all good bacteria in the GI tract is cleared out from the antibiotics and trying to ‘fight’ the viruses and metals, and WHAM! Time for another round of vaccines. More mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, bacteria, viruses pumped into the immune compromised child…oh, and don’t forget all the acetaminophen the pediatrician pushes, which lowers glutathione even more, depleting your child’s immunological war chest to nil. Once the immune system can’t clear the metals? They pile up, and pile up (lead in the toy’s paint, antimony in mattresses and ‘flame retardant’ pajamas and bedding, arsenic in chicken, aluminum in cheese and processed baked goods, etc.) and BINGO! Now your kid has an ‘incurable’ ‘genetic’ disorder. Remove the metals, and the ‘autism’ disappears.

Yea, same old, same old. NO ONE in my family OR my husband’s family is or was autistic for generations and generations. Autism is an ‘environmental’ disorder created by man and fueled by greed. Think your bucket can’ tip over? Think again. Anyone can become autistic. Add another vaccine to the schedule, and see how many more people become autistic.

I wouldn’t vaccinate my children again for all the money in the world. We’re done with Pharma here.

You CAN recover your darling boy, and I hope you’ll try. ;-)

In 1989 there were 11 mandated vaccines on the US schedule–there are now 36. Too much too soon!

There is absolutely no link between autism and vaccines. Pretty much everything that has been said in that regard has been a lie, distortion, or plain old moving the goalposts. I encourage you to read up at http://factsnotfantasy.com/vaccines.html and see what the science says.

By not vaccinating, not only do you put your own children at risk, but children around you: http://danamccaffery.com/

As a parent of an autistic child, I have absolutely no hesitation about vaccinating my daughter. She just started her HPV series even.

If I had a child with a sibling with autism, I probably wouldn’t vaccinate at all. I certainly wouldn’t vaccinate on the regular vaccine schedule. I MIGHT vaccinate on a delayed schedule for a few very important ones. I would make sure they are thermisol/mercury free vaccines. I would never give more than one vaccine at a time.

I don’t believe there has actually been any proof that the vaccines "caused" autism, although there is a lot of speculation. A lot of that comes from the measles/mumps vaccine that children get at 18 months, which is usually about the same time frame that major signs of autism start showing up. So it could just be a timing issue.

My sisters children all received the same vaccinations on the recommended schedule, two have autism one does not.

I have twin nephews, both with classic autism. They are almost 5 years old, barely speak, eat only 3- different foods, do not make eye contact with you, are not potty trained, cannot dress themselves, brush their own teeth, etc.

Their younger sister is 2 years old and they recently had her tested as well. At first they thought she had a sort of developmental delay, but after further testing they determined that she was just mimicking a lot of the behavior of her brothers. She is home with them all day and are primarily the only other children that she is around and plays with. It was suggested that she spend time alone, away from the boys, with other children (either a day care or church school setting possibly) in order to "see how other children behave".

I personally have 3 children of my own. All of them have been vaccinated according to the recommended schedule, and they are all extremely bright, social and happy children.

Whether or not to (or WHEN to) vacinate your children is your choice, but I would take in consideration your doctor’s recommendation on this before making your decision. Also, keep in mind that the majority of schools will not allow children to attend if they have not had all their vacinations.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Autism is a very difficult issue to work through, but the love you have for your children will help you get through each day, one day at a time.
