Well i have 5 brothers & 6 sisters and only i have it well aspergers anyway im also the youngest. But i think autism is hereditary and depends on the strength of the genes there inhereting it from. Because i see on TV where people have all autistic children where some families only have one autistic child. I think it varies from family & i believe genetics play a big role

Also im a girl incase u were wondering i dont believe autism is more likely in boys either. Girls are just very good at blending in & just come off as shy which ppl think is a good thing not a problem & dont act out like autistic boys leaving girls in the dark undiagnosed
References :
I have aspergers a mild form of autism

The CDC just came out with new staggering numbers. It is no longer 1/150. It is 1/110 and 1/70 boys! The chances of someone having a sibling with autism is the same as for a parent.
References :
http://www.autismspeaks.org/

I have a wonderful 7 year old son who has autism, MR, and ADHD.

the same actually. if 1 in 150 children born have autism, then the odds should be the same that you will have a sibling with that. i have a brother with autism and 3 siblings that dont. genetics does not have much of a roll as you would think. ( by genetics, i mean parent to child)
References :
the rate has increased..last i heard they were saying it was 1/110...

just as the parents have a 1/110 chance..the sibling has a 1/110 chance
if there is one child with autism the risk increases to 4%
