I have recently been looking into information on raising a child with autism, and was wondering if there is ever a chance that that child can grow up to be independent, live on their own, and be self-sufficient.

my son has severe autism. there is no way he could ever live without 24/7 supervision.

Autism has a broad spectrum. It would depend on the severity and impact of the disability. Some children with autism are very high functioning.

whats jim carreys ladies name? mccarthy? she believes so..look its all about how much attention you give the kids..the autistics that grow up to be big 3 year olds are because the parents were to lazy to work with them. or were too scared or just flat out didnt want to…if you work with your kid they can do anything

Yes, many autistic children have grown up to be a independent person. Many of them go to college and work in companies. However, it needs really hard work of parents to achieve that success. Good luck for you.

Autism ranges in severity. Many people who have high functioning autism grow up to lead a pretty normal, independent life. People with moderate autism can sometimes live a somewhat normal life, but might need some support. People with low functioning autism usually depend on others their whole life.

So it really depends on each individual and the severity of autism.

Well, that depends on the interventions that the child had when growing up. I do think that it can happen (the movies certainly think so). School needs to focus on life skills. Nutrition consultation is vital.
