Canada is not offering a thimerosal free alternative / single dose alternative and I would like to get one for my pregnant wife.
I don’t see why not. But you’ll probably have a hard time finding a mercury-free shot. The majority of the doses manufactured (about 80%?) come in the multi-dose vials containing 25 mcg of mercury per dose.
Also, all the vaccine package inserts say the same thing, with the different brand names inserted:
"Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine or Fluzone vaccine. It is also not known whether these vaccines can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity."
http://www.fda.gov/downloads/BiologicsBloodVaccines/Vaccines/ApprovedProducts/UCM182404.pdf (page 10)
So if the vaccine manufacturers don’t know if the vaccines can cause fetal harm, I’m not sure why you’d be willing to take the risk.
Ton’s of American’s go to Canada for drugs, I don’t see why you couldn’t come here for a change!
