A video of my 5 yr old low-functioning, autistic, beautiful daughter. Three years ago, she had zero eye contact, would not babble, did not respond to her name and wanted NOTHING to do with us. All she wanted to do was rock back and forth and shake an object up close in front of her eyes. Now she is SINGING! She’s made remarkable improvements and I have faith one day she will be able to communicate with language! She may seem severe to you, but to us, everyday she just keeps improving, little by little. hi, I have a question that I would really like to ask you.

next year I’m going to be an aupair for a girl in denmark that is 5 years old, like your beautiful daughter in this video. She does not know me, but I have met here once, and she seemes ver y sweet. she is also non verbal, do you have a tecnique that you use to get her to sing? how often do you have these sessions, I would like to be the best nanny/au pair for her as possible, but I have no professional training. I need help.

    at least shes …
at least shes gotten that part down lol.

my middle charge wouldnt do that, he would expect us to change him.
since she has got that part down have you tried giving her underwear to wear instead of pull ups? we did that with my middle charge and then he realized it was underwear only.

as for the naked phase, i belive alot of children with autism go through that, my charges did when they were younger (up to age 5) but it went away before they started therapy.
you have a drama girl there lol

Alos, she’s 7 now and going thru a naked phase. Forget shoes, she never wears them. I want to make a new video of her, but i don’t think she’ll keep her clothes on long enough….unless we film her outside. I should try that.

    Brigette sits on …
Brigette sits on the potty at school and at home. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn’t. But what she will do is take off her pullups and put on a new pair. lol.

    sorry, i mustve …
sorry, i mustve misunderstood, but yea, when you have autism you tend to see people who help you like you seem to differently.
youll love and trust them all the more because they seem to get in to your world to help you grow enough to reach out

    actually its my …
actually its my nanny charge :”> lol.

sometimes though the walking through the steps and the usual child develpment things dont usually work and things such as flooding, such as playing games etc. in the bathroom until they go then they will get a treat is used.

  13. Panditha666 says:

    its usually a big …
its usually a big deal for the parents more so that the people. i know i was triained at 3 or four, and i didnt discover i had aspergers until i was 26 (last year). I have adhd as well.

  14. gamiezion says:

    our parents, even …
our parents, even when we claim to hate their guts

  15. gamiezion says:

    please keep in mind …
please keep in mind that alot of the times we want to get something done as badly as you (the parents) do, but we cant figure out how, so the best thing (in my opinion) is either walking your child through the steps, or rewarding good calls on your childs part, the latter being the most positive (to me at least) as autists usually dont like to get told, makes em feel guilty/stupid at times
kudos to you for willing to learn about your child btw, i know it isnt always easy, but well always love

  16. gamiezion says:

    the obstacle of …
the obstacle of potty training? i guess i was able to go when i REALLY needed to when i was 6, sooner if i was told too, from 8/9 upwards i was able to do it as soon as a “normal person” would

and howd i get through it? haha it wasnt that bigga deal for me, going to the bathroom isnt that important afterall (thats how i feel now anyway)
i guess, if you could make it important for her in some way (through a game, rewards, etc.) you could have her learn faster

  17. Panditha666 says:

    Yeah true, my …
Yeah true, my charges were trained at age 5 thankfully thanks to ABA theraphy. wondering if bridgette is going thorugh this phase,. how old were you when you got over this obstacle and how did you get through it?

  18. gamiezion says:

well elp, but i as …
well elp, but i as an autist find im always question peoples honousty, on the count of not being able to read expression, intonation, body language, etc.

so i think doing that will get you a long way

  19. gamiezion says:

    it takes a while …
it takes a while for us autists to ociate “the pressure” with needing to go and itll take us a while to go in time, im sure shell be like any other kid when it comes to being potty trainend when shes 8 :)

  20. Panditha666 says:

    its not always by …
its not always by the mercury that must mean that all children in the world have autism then

  21. Panditha666 says:

    shes too cute, …
shes too cute, reminds me of my own oldest charge who also has autism, and so does her brother and sister. one thing i am wondering is, did she finally get potty trained? wondering because my oldest charge was pt’d at age five and it took that long because of her autism, and she had a hard time grasping the concept that she needed to go. Wondering if Bridgette has that same problem and how are you guys handling it?

  22. emmadignam says:

    Hello! I am …
o! I am currently in a play where I have to be a young autistic girl, and I was wondering if there was any advice you could give me on how to play the part accuratly but not offensively. I love that you sing to your daughter, and I think she is the cutest little girl I have ever seen. Any advice you could give me would be extremely helpful! thanks a lot!

  24. gamiezion says:

    this video really …
this video really made me cry, i can see a really beautifull mind in the making here, if you as parents can keep the supportive behaviour you showed in this video, i would expect great things from her

  25. GoldentuskII says:

    what is your …
what is your evidence to support this? and in what way could you compare autism to brain damage? brain damage is trauma where as autism is a probably genetic mental condition, seriously.
