There are two very different perspectives that parents can have when it comes to raising an autistic child. You can focus on the difficulties and struggles, live each day like it’s a battle against autism, and not accept your child for all they are. Or, you can embrace your child–autism and all–with unconditional love. I think we owe it to our children to choose to be positive.
I feel strongly that only showing the meltdowns, the issues, all that negativity…is not only wrong, but will have a dire effect on our children as they become adults. Who will want to reach out to our children when they are adults? If their perception of autism is that of someone who really isn’t quite a person? How will autistics ever be accepted in society, when parents are bemoaning Autism everyday?
My child is here with me, with a soul, a heart, and an amazing mind. I celebrate her life everyday.
What will your perspective be?

Silly… energetic. …
Silly… energetic… full of laughter… full of soul… very nice!
right on! As a …
right on! As a mother of an 8 yo autistic boy, I totally agree. I am glad my son has autism. these people are just too high on the intellectiual plane and it is hard to come down to our level. Thats all. Who are we to label whats “normal”? My son may be behind on some things, but he is a brilliant, wonderful child who loves life. Yes it is hard sometimes, but the good weighs out the bad. I wouldnt change him for the world, or even a “cure”
for me it depends …
for me it depends on the persons thats autistic.
I have HFAS and I …
I have HFAS and I just want to say thank you so much for putting such light on Autism and showing people that it is not the end of the world. At first my Autism really put me out of whack but now that I am an adult I have learned how to overcome this disorder and make the best of what my life should be. I believe my Lord, Jesus Christ gave me this disorder to learn and get stronger; not to pull me back in life.
I just want to …
I just want to thank you so much! You will never know how much your video has helped m see my daughter in a different perspective. I love all of my children so much, but I did think that that diagnosis was the end of the begining for us. You have showed me that is not true. Thank you again
Beautiful. …
Beautiful. Wonderful music choices, too. =)
Thank you thank you …
Thank you thank you thank you…… I have 2 beautiful, clever, different, sensitive, trusting, caring and individual autistic daughters…….. I loved this clip and I am passing it on to all my friends to watch and see ……………………..
I might agree with …
I might agree with you if the negativity weren’t so pervasive. It is a daily pounding on a child’s self esteem to say, you need fixing at all costs. You are not really my child, but some soulless changeling, and I will fight the disorder that took the child that would have pleased me as this monster you are never will.
I’m also a single …
I’m also a single mom, and both my son and I have asperger’s. hopefully videos like this will put more focus on acceptance instead of a “cure”
This is completely …
This is completely not true. I cannot fathom the type of human who would say such a thing about a wonderful outlook on such a beautiful child. I’m very disappointed with this comment.
You surely cannot be perfect, so I suggest shutting the up.
I’m in right …
I’m in right now because I have autism! ! Can’t those kids stop shrieking?! I’m not like that! I am signature. :,(
I liked your video …
I liked your video very much. My son is almost 5 and my daughter is 3 and they are both autistic and believe it of not, they are, too, full of soul. There are some bad times (like the ones you show on your video) but it must not be the important stuff that stick to us. Your daughter is really gorgous. Keep up the good work!!
Why are so many …
Why are so many treating each other so harshly on this subject? Everyone’s perspective on what it’s like to live with Autism is TRUE. It is, obviously, different as Autism itself is different for everyone. One mother shouldn’t judge another for their perspective. Also, I seriously doubt the moments of negativity supersede the love and acceptance that a parent has for a child. It is very insensitive to tell a mother that she has a bad perspective on her child just because she says, “I’m hurting.”
Hi My six year old …
Hi My six year old has Aspergers and I loved this, especially the jumping up and down at the end it was and the laughing it really made me smile. thanks
My 6 year old has …
My 6 year old has aspergers and I agree with you. It does NOT define who she is. I would not change one thing about her, she is amazing! Thanks for the awesome video!!!!
I agree with you. …
I agree with you. My 6 year old has Autism and as I read your perspective out loud he smiled.
sorry, ran out of …
sorry, ran out of chars to keep commenting
people say that kids with autism have problems at school and socially, but will they have ABSOLUTELY NO childhood porblems without autism?
autism does cause problems, but life is full of problems anyway, and if discovered early, those problems can be prepared for, and wen they have been conquered, the autistic can come out a very happy, and usually intelligent person
anyway, GREAT VID
WE’RE HERE TO STAY
NO CURE
DIFFERENCE NOT DISEASE!
i have Aspergers …
i have Aspergers Syndrome, which is basically autism, and i TOTALLY AGREE WITH you
Autism is part of who someone is, it defines them as much as skin colour and facial features
if the ‘curebie’ parents cure (spits angrily) their childs autism, then they won;t be their kids anymore!
if they try to prevent autism, then they will be effectivelt committting genocide on a form of human bengs, and on a great culture!
Thats disturbingly …
